MFC
BACKGROUND
Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) are devices that use microbes to convert chemical energy into electricity. Like a battery, it has an anode and cathode located in separate containers for the bacteria to reside. When wastewater is fed to the anode, bacteria will consume the waste and release energy, which can be turned into electricity. This subsequently purifies the wastewater by removing any leftover waste
BIOPLASTICS
BACKGROUND
Bioplastics are biodegradable plastics that are made from starchy plant or animal materials. By boiling these materials with glycerine and water, hard and firm plastics can be molded into any shape. They are generally used for packaging and disposable items.
